Sona Zakharyan Memorial Scholarship

The goal of the Sona Zakharian Memorial Scholarship is to support underprivileged students who demonstrate high academic achievement. The Scholarship was established in memory of the honored teacher Sonya Zakharyan, who taught the Armenian language and Armenian literature in the schools of the town of Gavar (Gegharkunik Region) for more than 30 years. At the moment, the Scholarship is provided only to graduates of the School N3 of Gavar. The selection of applicants is carried out by the Pedagogical Council of the School.

The Scholarship was founded by Manuk and Stepan Yergnyans and is managed by the “Amrots” Foundation.

In 2022 the Scholarship was granted to Milena Egoyan, who is studying now at the Department of Public Policy and Management of the Faculty of International Relations of Yerevan State University.

I understand that education is the most important weapon and shield of our people. My professional choice is determined by the desire to benefit my Motherland and people, to serve the public interest. My goal is to show myself as a specialist in the field of public administration of the RA. I would like my peers to take education and, above all, their choices very seriously.

Sona Zakaryan Memorial Scholarship

The Sona Zakaryan Memorial Scholarship, dedicated to the memory of Sona Zakaryan, an Armenian Language and Literature teacher from Gavar, aims to support academically outstanding yet socially disadvantaged students by expanding their educational opportunities.

The scholarship is awarded to talented graduates from Gavar, helping them further their studies. It was established in honor of Sona Zakaryan, who devoted over 30 years to teaching Armenian Language and Literature, educating and inspiring generations of students.

Currently, the scholarship is available exclusively to graduates of Gavar’s N3 School, with recipients selected by the school’s Pedagogical Council.

The scholarship was founded by Manuk and Stepan Herghnyan and is managed by the Amrots Foundation.
