Sona Zakharyan Memorial Scholarship

Sona Zakharyan
memorial scholarship

The Amrots Foundation provides professional project management services for donors who wish to ensure their contributions reach those in the greatest need. The Sona Zakharyan Memorial Scholarship was established by her sons, Manuk and Stepan Hergnyan, and is managed by the Amrots Foundation.

Founded in honor of Sona Zakharyan—a dedicated educator who spent over 30 years teaching Armenian Language and Literature in the city of Gavar—the scholarship embodies the Hergnyans’ belief that financial hardship should never obstruct the path to education. Specifically designed to support high-achieving graduates of Gavar School N3, the fund empowers students to pursue their academic ambitions despite social challenges.

Currently, this scholarship is exclusively available at Gavar School N3. However, your investment can help us expand this reach to support underprivileged children in other communities.

Invest in the right people and change lives through the Amrots Foundation.

Emma Manukyan

2025 Recipient | American University of Armenia (AUA), Computer Science

“For me, education is the essential prerequisite for progress toward one’s goals. It is through education that we see the world, understand phenomena, and find our direction in life. I believe every great professional starts at this point; education lays the foundation upon which we build our future, grow, and strive for excellence.
I chose Computer Science because I want to contribute to Armenia’s technological development. I am always ready to share my professional knowledge and experience with those in need. Just as money must circulate to grow an economy, knowledge must be shared and circulated to drive the educational sector forward.”
